The Shred-Day One

Jillian.
Why does she hate me? She doesn't even know me! Okay okay, so it wasn't
that bad. Really, during the first session of The Shred I thought I might die. Alas, I'm still here. And post, kick-butt, workout I tried out a little trick a friend told me long ago. I chugged (okay, I didn't chug, but I drank quickly) a glass of milk because I was told it replaces the Miocene that my muscles used up during the workout so I will be less sore tomorrow. I remember doing it loooong ago, you know, when I used to work out and I remember it working. Here's hoping!

I've never been a journal-er, in fact I quite dislike it. Please, oh please, don't tell my students that. I'd have no credibility! However, I have seen so many studies that show people are more successful in losing weight when they log what they eat. I'm going to give it a try.

Breakfast-
Green tea with mandarin
Low fat plain Greek yogurt with a squirt of honey and a handful Bear Naked fruit and nut granola (yum!)
More green tea with mandarin

Morning snack-
Forgot!

Lunch-
Romaine and spinach salad with cucumbers, carrots, and balsamic vinegar dressing
One half of a ruby red grapefruit

Afternoon snack-
Fat free vanilla Greek yogurt with a squirt of honey and another handful of Bear Naked fruit and nut granola. *note, the vanilla yogurt wasn't that good and I would have rather had the plain one instead.

Post workout 'snack'-
2% milk

Dinner-
Chicken breast (marinated in Italian dressing--so good!)
Fresh steamed spinach
Short grain brown rice
(butter and salt on both spinach and rice--but not too much!)

Dessert-
I have my eye on another grapefruit.

And I drank water during the day-but not enough, I'm upping my intake tomorrow.

Okay, so I did one day. Twenty nine to go. I. CAN. DO. THIS.

  1. Wow! What a great food log! I've been logging my food, too. It makes it harder to cheat when you have to admit that you wasted 210 calories on a bag of white cheddar cheez-its (true story!). Keep up the good work!
